Hello and welcome back to the Unleashed podcast, I’m your host Kristina Sjolund, and I want to thank you for taking the time to listen in to the podcast.

On today’s episode we’re going to talk about laziness or self sabotage, and I promise by the end of this, you are going to be able to stop yourself from getting in your own way and you’re going to take the steps to move forward. You’re going to know how to get through the times that you feel like you’re lazy, but you’re really in your own way.

Do you have big ideas or you know these visions or goals, but you find yourself getting sidetracked by the latest binge watch on Netflix, or you get caught up in the social media scrolling? Maybe you don’t work out because you’ve got the treadmill sitting there, or the Peloton bike sitting there, staring at you. But you just get sidetracked.

There’s other things that you want to do, but what if I told you that it’s not out of laziness? You’re self sabotaging. Self sabotage is a form of unworthiness. It’s not doing what you should be doing because you feel like you’re not worthy of success. And at some point in your life, somebody made you feel that way. You know why? I don’t know why they did that, but what I can be sure of is that it wasn’t you. That’s their issue, not yours. In the limits that they’ve put on themselves, they often put on others, you know, especially when they’re talking to somebody with ambition. So why do we let those things get in our heads? Why do we think that we’re not worthy of more? Why do we get in our way?

• This is something that I feel is really important, and I know that I talk about writing things down a lot, but if you saw all of my writing pads, my notebooks, my journals, if you saw all of these things laying around my house, they are everywhere because, I will have an idea that I’ve got to write down. (02:41)

• I want you to think of the person that you want to be. Okay? Not a mentor, not an idol or anything like that. I want you to picture the person that you want to be, your goal. Where you’re at in your life, where you are the most successful. You know, you envision yourself, think of that person that you want to be and how would that person respond to the activity that you’re about to do? (4:37)

• You should be whatever business that you’re in. And whatever income producing activities that you should be doing on a daily basis are what you should be doing daily. And those things, with that consistency, is going to create your momentum. But if you are doing self-sabotaging things and you have self-sabotaging behavior, you’re going to stunt your growth. (6:27)

• Maybe you’re not doing the things that you should be doing, or maybe you’re not being consistent about it. Consistency is key, so I want you to think about that. Would that person that you want to become, if that person wouldn’t do something like that, you shouldn’t be doing it. (7:33)

• I know if I have too much stuff everywhere, I start to get panicky. I guess I just don’t like that feeling. So then I’ll just, you know, I’ve got to go through and I’ve got to get rid of the clutter and it makes me feel better. It makes me feel more relaxed. This is something that you need to think about. So if your space that you’re working in isn’t motivating you, you’ve got to change it up. (9:04)
