WHAT’S THE EPISODE ABOUT…

Welcome to the Unleashed Podcast, I am your host Kristina Sjolund. I wanna thank you for joining me and for taking a few minutes out of your day, to hopefully get a little bit of inspiration in these times of uncertainty. And I think that probably everybody who is listening is affected by what’s going on in the world right now.

We have some craziness.

We’ve talked about this before a couple of weeks ago, we talked about being the calm in the storm, and you know the more that I am on social media, and with my friends that I talk to, the more I’ve realized that not everybody really knows how to be that calm yet.

There’s too much uncertainty. There’s family members, everybody’s in their homes together all the time, and sometimes it’s not that fantastic.

We just got the notice today that the kids are not gonna go back to school for the rest of the year.

That’s a heart-breaking.

In fact, I had a little shed of some tears because my daughter’s in eighth grade, and this is her last year of being at her school that she’s been at since 4th grade. They’re not going to have their eighth grade graduation. They had to cancel their mission trip to Costa Rica. They are cancelling graduation. They have an outdoor education trip, that they go on, they have an end of the year party, they’ve got all of this stuff and what makes me a little bit emotional, these kids don’t get to experience that this year, and now next year, they’ll go straight into high school, and I know some of them will not be able to see any of those friends that they’ve grown up with.

Maybe you have a senior in high school where there’s no prom. Maybe they’re trying to get into college on a scholarship and they’re not able to play their last year of baseball or softball or track or whatever it is. I’m telling you, it’s heartbreaking and in these times there’s something that you can be certain of, and it’s how you handle the situation at hand, it is going to determine how strong you come out of it.

So what are you going to do with the time that you have at home right now, and what are you doing with it as far as your family goes? What are you doing with that time as far as your business goes? If you’re a business owner, how you handle this now is going to determine how strong you come out of this, the growth that happens afterwards. And how you handle the situation in front of your family, with your family, is going to determine how they get through this as well. Here we deal with things as they come. Listen in…

SHOW NOTES:

• So when I talk to you about dealing with these situations and looking at the positive part, you know me, I talk about gratitude. I talk about gratitude and your goals that you set all the time, and it’s so important, and right now is probably the most important time for you. If you have not started it it’s time to start it now. (06:49)

• I want you to write down five things that you’re grateful for, and it could be anything you could be grateful for. Hey, especially right now. If your family is healthy, you better be writing that down, that you’re grateful that your family is healthy, be grateful. That today was a beautiful day. When we sat down at the dinner table and we were talking about the things that we were grateful for, both of my girls, Danica and Whitney, both said I’m thankful that today was a beautiful day. (08:31)

• You know me and my lists, if you’ve listened to me for any amount of time, you know I’m a list person. These goals start to make you feel that sense of accomplishment. Oh my gosh, even me, I work from home, I’ve been home for the last couple of years, three years, I don’t know how long. I work from home and now that my kids are home, it throws off my schedule, if you will. So I have to make sure that I really set myself time aside to be able to focus on them and help them with their school work, but I also have to set aside time for my own work, so I have to keep a schedule for myself.(11:23)

• This is a time where I want to take advantage, being able to strengthen, even though we already have a really strong relationship, I want to make sure that this situation brings us together. So it already has that negative tone to it. It’s a pandemic, people or sick, people have died, their school, everything is up-ended. It’s already got a negative undertone. I’d love to bring whatever positivity that I can do it. (13:33)

• I’m going to be putting together an accountability group, where we’re going to be doing a consistency challenge, and we’re going do this for 10 days straight. It doesn’t matter if it’s going to be in your business, or maybe in your home life, but somewhere where you need to be adding consistency and being able to do this every day. Maybe this group is just what you need. (15:33)
