WHAT’S THE EPISODE ABOUT…

Hello and welcome to The Unleashed Podcast. I am your host, Kristina Sjolund, and I’m going to chat a little bit today about something that we were experiencing… Oh my gosh, I was going to say, we’ve been experiencing it the last week, but we’ve actually been experiencing this for quite some time.

We are going to chat about the cancel culture and also the social media constant fighting and arguing. How does it make you feel? How do you feel when… It is a constant battle? It’s sucks for me, I sit there and I think to myself, I’m like, oh my gosh, I don’t like to argue. I don’t like to argue in person, I definitely don’t like to argue on social media, it’s a waste of time. You don’t owe anybody on social media, you don’t owe them your time. So, how are you going to spend your time?

I would hope that you’re going to choose your time wisely, you’re going to spend it in areas that are going to benefit you and your family, and create growth for all of you. I see so much bickering and sometimes it makes me sad. So I have to check out. I have to check out of it. I know that we’ve talked about that before. This past week, I took myself and my girls, we all went to Mount Rushmore for the Fourth of July weekend. I booked it a few months ago, I think I might have booked it back in March. March or April. And I was so looking forward to this trip. It’s somewhere that I had always wanted to go. The state, South Dakota looks amazing. It looks beautiful. I wanted to know all of the things. I love history and I can’t wait to share with you about our trip.

SHOW NOTES:

• I don’t force people to listen to me, I don’t force people to agree with me, and actually that’s exactly what I wanted to talk about today on today’s podcast, is your choices. Choose where you’re going to spend your time. (02:53)

• This monument is a monument that I think every president has gone to. I watched videos, I saw pictures of presidential candidates going there, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George Bush, everybody has been to this monument. Now, it’s all of a sudden. It’s a disgrace. Well, back when I booked this trip, it wasn’t a disgrace, and we were very much looking forward to this trip, and while we were on the trip, I make sure that my girls learn as much as they possibly can everywhere we go, and I want them to know all about it. (03:45)

• It was kind of a dream trip just because, I mean, it’s one of the biggest attractions in our country. When I went up there, there were people from all over the place, there were men and women, there were people of every race, every nationality, people who didn’t speak English, people who spoke all kinds of different languages. There were people from all over the place. (7:17)

• It’s so amazing to me, that people, they argue their point on something on social media. They argue their point, like they’re going to change somebody’s mind. How do you change somebody’s mind? Well, you change somebody’s mind by being an example, you live the life that you want to live, live the way that you’re going to live it, not for somebody else, and create an environment that the other person would want to have. But when you are somebody who is constantly doing that, and constantly arguing, it pushes the other person away.(11:32)

• Let’s go make a difference, we can be the change. It’s as small as a thing that you can think of. If just 10 people, who are listening to this right now, goes out and does something good for someone, there’s going to be 10 more people, and then they will do something in return. We can be the ripple effect. Can we do that? (18:49)
