WHAT’S THE EPISODE ABOUT…

I want to talk to you about the hardest part of entrepreneurship. When I talk to people about this, nearly 85% of the comments and the responses that I get all fall under this category, doing what you don’t want to do. It’s the hard part. It’s the stuff that really sucks. It’s that hard work. But as entrepreneurs, we know what we want, we know the outcome that we want, right? And we’re going to do whatever it takes to get that outcome. Well, I don’t know about you. I’m very results driven. I don’t change my course very often. I definitely don’t change my goal, my vision, whatever it is.

I do whatever it takes to get there. I don’t quit on it. We stay on course, we don’t change that just because something’s hard, because when you change, it’s still going to take hard work. It’s still going to take the same kind of work and the same kinds of things that you don’t want to do to make it happen. But we might be afraid of the reactions of other people. We might be afraid of the negative remarks. There’s haters out there. There’s haters everywhere, and I think I’ve come to the conclusion that people on social media, you know, that don’t have anything else to do with their lives, they just really are looking for something to complain about.

They don’t really want all of the peaceful rainbows and unicorns that they say that they want because they’re going to seek out something that they don’t like about somebody. They’re going to seek out something that somebody’s doing and they’re going to try to take those people down. So make sure that you rise above that. Whatever you do, it’s going to be a gamble and gambling takes risks, right? That’s what it’s all about. You are an entrepreneur who are going to take risks. It may work out, may not, but you know what is the WHY for you.

SHOW NOTES:

• We stay on course like we don’t change that just because something’s hard, because when you change, it’s still going to take hard work. It’s still going to take the same kind of work and the same kinds of things that you don’t want to do to make it happen. (01:47)

• Maybe she’s great at baking pies and she makes the best Blackberry pies and she creates a Facebook page. It’s a risk, and maybe she’s not going to start out selling a whole bunch of pies, but she’s taking that risk because she’s got kids to feed, she’s got bills to pay and she’s behind. So she creates that. She tells all of her friends, she tells her friends to tell their friends and she sells a bunch of pies. (04:50)

• So you see entrepreneurs, we write down our goals on paper, we write it on mirrors, on vision boards, we write affirmations on post-its, on the bathroom mirror. We have those kinds of things on our screensavers. We read books about personal growth and development, and a lot of our friends, they might even tease us. (07:39)

• If you just showed up every day as the president, the CEO, the administrative assistant, the janitor, the bookkeeper, it was all going to pay off, because when you’re creating your own business, you are all of those people. (09:31)

• They’re starting to learn that their hard work will also pay off, and I’m showing it to them by doing that hard work. They see me, they see what I do with this. They see what I do with my business when I’m working from home. They see when I’m on my zoom trainings, they see when I’m in these courses, they also hear the responses from other people who it’s helping and they love that, they’re winning. (16:58)
